New-Media Literacy has been identified as one of the top 10 skills for the future workforce. This is defined as the “ability to critically assess and develop content that uses new media forms, and to leverage media for persuasive communication.” (Forbes Magazine).
Through our district-wide Innovative Initiative grant, FPSF has committed to fund the EDGE Media Labs to bring new media literacy and technology to our students.
The Edge Media Labs:
- Help students develop a “maker mindset” critical to innovation oriented fields of work.
- Create a team-based approach to iterative problem solving and design thinking.
- Provide curriculum-based opportunities for abstract expression through multi-media.
- Inspire students to create aesthetic products and presentations that engage audiences through sight, sound, and tactile senses.
